Art Metropole is pleased to announce the publication of GOIN' POSTAL. This bookwork/catalogue documents the GOIN' POSTAL mail-art exhibition at Art Metropole, autumn 2007. Photographed by Miles Collyer, who organized the exhibition, and designed by Los Angeles-based Tiffany Malakooti, each book is numbered and has a unique rubber-stamped cover and signed tip-in photograph.
Evincing the modest spirit of mail art and its do-it-yourself complexion, the 96 pages of this book act as an aid to those interested in this under-documented genre. Mail Art is described by Art Metropole Director Ann Dean, in the introduction of GOIN' POSTAL, as "a means of affordable production, development and distribution of art." This means of "intimate exchange," rarely exhibited and seldom given any degree of authority within the canon, now has a home. Includes work by Robert Fones, General Idea, Kevin Immanuel, Ray Johnson, Micah Lexier, Kelly Mark, Jonathan Monk, Juergen Staack, Julie Voyce and others.
