HOW IT WORKS

Art Metropole and Gendai Gallery have partnered to give the Toronto art community access to an innovative project based in Shanghai, China.

Birdhead has created BAGART as a tool with global reach to help artists survive and prosper while subverting the established methods of the art market.

BAGART is an online art sales hub. The art collector can visit their site www.bagart.org to
play the game by selecting one of the available artworks and custom frame designs to be delivered and installed in their home. The printed paper reproductions find their permanent home once they have been pasted directly on the purchaser's wall with the frame design of their choosing stenciled on site. Sales are finalized by the delivery of the work and presentation of an official certificate signed by the artist, Birdhead and the purchaser. A photograph of the installed work completes the transaction.

THE ARTISTS

The works have been created by participating artists from various locations in and out of China. Additional artists are invited as new host cities agree to participate.

Current Participating Artists include:
Ding Yi, Hu Jieming, Liang Yue, Shen Fan, Shi Yong, Xu Zhen, Yang Fu Dong, Yang Zhen Zhong, Zhang En Li, Zhou Tie Hai, Wu Shan Zhuan.

Participating Toronto artists include:
Barbara Balfour, Emelie Chhangur, Kristan Horton, Jinhan Ko, Yuriko Kubota, Yam Lau, Daisuke Takeya, Josh Thorpe, Stephanie Shepherd and more to come!

PAYMENT

Art Metropole will facilitate all sales through our secure e-commerce system. Your order can only be placed when you visit the BAGART website at www.bagart.org. They will confirm your sale with Art Metropole, who will then contact you to arrange payment. BAGART will ship the works to their Toronto installer who will be available to install the work in your home.

The price of each artwork has been set as a final comment on the economy of the art market. The universal currency of McDonald's iconic Big Mac hamburger is the unit of measure utilized to calculate your costs.

Each work will cost the equivalent of the current Toronto price of 88 McDonald's Big Mac hamburgers (plus shipping and installation fees).
