How do I submit a title for sale through Art Metropole?
We specialize in artist' books, editions, posters, audio, video, and multiples. We do not sell one-of-a-kind items. We do not promote or sell poetry or literature books, and our priority is not exhibition catalogues or monographs, except where those are designed by the artist, incorporate artists' projects, or where the content has a bearing on the artists production of artists' books, video, multiples and so on. Please do not submit exhibition catalogues unless they fall in to the above categories.
If you think you have an item of interest to us, the best thing you can do is to bring it in to show us in person; it is the fastest and best way.
If you cannot visit us please email shop@artmetropole.com as much of the following information as possible, and attach a JPG image of the item:
A physical description (format, materials, number of pages, edition size, if signed or numbered), origin and content description, artist's name(s), pricing information, publisher name and city, publication year, a list of other retailers that currently carry the item, your telephone number and name.
How do I make a proposal for an exhibition?
Please be aware of Art Metropole's unique approach to presenting exhibits. Our staff and Board of Directors finalize all programming far in advance of each season. Exhibits relate to and support the material offered in our Artist Book and Multiples Shop and reference our past history in contemporary, conceptual works produced in editions by Canadian and international artists and publishers. Feel free to browse our past exhibitions and events here on our web site to better understand our achievements. If you would like to make a proposal or suggestion, you may mail it, with a self-addressed stamped envelope, to Submissions, Art Metropole, 788 King Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5V 1N6.
I have a new book I would like to promote through Art Metropole. How do I make a proposal for a book launch or special event?
We are eager to promote contemporary artists' books especially. Contact us to discuss a book launch. Please keep our focus in mind: we do not promote or sell poetry or literature. Exhibition catalogues or monographs are not our priority, except those incorporating artists' projects, designed by the artist, or where the content has a bearing on the artist's production of artists' books, video, multiples and so on.
I am an artist and I have an idea for an artists' book (or other edition) I would like to produce. How do I make a proposal?
Although we are happy to advise you as best we can on how to publish your book, we publish only one or two titles a year ourselves. So we do not encourage unsolicited projects. If you would still like to make a proposal, you may mail it, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, to Submissions, Art Metropole, 788 King Street West, Toronto, Canada M5V 1N6.
I want to include one of the videos you list in an exhibition or a public screening. How do I get preview copies, or rent videos from you?
Art Metropole sells VHS videos and DVD's for home or library use only. In most cases, no public screenings are allowed, although some artists allow classroom use. Contact info@artmetropole.com, and we will direct you to the artist, or the artist's agent, and you can discuss your needs with them.
